The owner of a 2010 Honda Accord called the Chicago Police Department to report his vehicle missing from in front of his residence in the 7000 block of west Berwyn Avenue in Chicago’s Union Ridge neighborhood. The victim stated he had parked his Honda last night when he came home from work and discovered it missing in the morning. Victim further stated to police that the Honda Accord was most likely taken with a set of keys he had left inside it. The Chicago PD verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Honda.

Minutes after the Honda was activated a Chicago PD canine unit on Chicago’s south side equipped with a LoJack Police Tracking Computer (PTC) picked up the silent and directional signal being broadcast from the stolen Honda Accord. The Chicago PD canine unit tracked the stolen Honda to the 7400 block of south Wabash Avenue in Chicago’s Park Manor neighborhood where the stolen vehicle was recovered parked and unoccupied. Police on scene discovered property in the Honda’s back seat taken in car burglaries which had occurred during the evening hours in Chicago. Stolen property recovered from the stolen Honda Accord was inventoried by police. Investigation into this vehicle theft and subsequent vehicle burglaries continues.

Due to LoJack the owner of this 2010 Honda Accord had his vehicle recovered shortly after it was entered as stolen and property taken in numerous car burglaries was recovered and returned to owners. The Honda was recovered before it could be damaged, stripped, cloned or re-tagged.

The LoJack® System was installed in the 2010 Honda Accord in March 2010 at Colonial Honda in Dartmouth, Massachusetts.
